Renovating a Public University

Suffolk University underwent a renovation, that, converted library space, with rows of books and shelves into new office space for the Sawyer Business School.

Officeworks provided programming & square foot optimization, project renderings, project scheduling, project coordination for the install of 2,400 lineal feet of Teknion Altos and Optos architectural glass and wall systems.

The wall system panels were finished with fabric, plastic laminate, painted MDF with low VOC paint and back painted glass. The variety of finish types and colors of blue, orange, beige and white make the space a cool student place to hang out and just subtle enough to feel at home.

The glass and wall systems are included in 80 offices, 4 conference rooms, 6 huddle rooms, a large open meeting space, a large reception / lounge area and on numerous corridor walls.

    Fun Facts:

  • 1/2 mile of architectural glass and wall system installations.
  • The project received LEED Gold Certification from the USGBC.

    Officeworks' Credit Contributions:

  • MRc4: Recycled Content (2 pts awarded):The Altos and Optos steel and aluminum components contribute to the recycled content, as well as the Altos particle board and mineral board.
  • MRc5: Regional Materials (2 pts awarded):Our product is both manufactured and extracted within 500 miles of the site.
  • MRc7: Certified Wood (1 pts awarded):Any wood components were ordered as FSC to comply with this credit.

"From early meetings with the design team to determine layout and finishes of the wall systems up to installation and coordination with the construction manager Officeworks was a true team player."
