Analog Garage

Due to their highly collaborative environment, Analog sought to design a new research facility in Downtown Boston where talented professionals can work alongside creative students to develop experimental technology.

Officeworks, along with Baker Design Group and Chapman Construction, teamed up to create a 35,000 sf, 2 floor high-end office fit-out dubbed the “Analog Garage” at 125 Summer Street in Boston. The goal was to create a research facility in Downtown Boston to improve collaboration amongst talented professionals and incoming college students.

“We go where the talent is,” says Vincent Roche, CEO & President of Analog Devices. “This is a magnet for kids. We have great associations with MIT, Northeastern, and other local universities,” he says.

“We’re tasked with focusing on what’s next,” said Pat O’Doherty, Analog’s Vice President of Emerging Business and Head of the Analog Garage. The Garage’s team develops experimental technologies that might become Analog products someday, but perhaps not for five to 10 years.

The Garage was previously housed in the Cambridge Innovation Center, the co-working offices located across the Charles River in the Kendall Square neighborhood of Cambridge, MA. Analog relocated to gain more space and be closer to major highways and more public transportation options. “The company has a second Garage outpost in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as several dozen innovation and design centers worldwide that focus on products that are closer to market,” O’Doherty says.

We worked closely with the Analog team to provide furniture and architectural glass systems. Our services included furniture specification, design layout, renderings, project management and coordination, delivery and install. Our furniture and glass can be seen at open office spaces, research labs, workstations, private offices, meeting rooms and the large café.

The products supplied and installed by Officeworks include Teknion HAB Benching, Teknion Expansion Casegoods, Teknion Double-Glazed Focus Architectural Walls, Teknion TEK Pier wall-integrated height adjustable work surfaces and monitor combination units, Studio TK Fractal Lounge, Davis Furniture Zen Side Chairs and Humanscale Ergonomic Products.
