Sonos, a California-based audio company made news when they decided to move from their East Cambridge location to downtown Boston. The move was necessary for expansion reasons, but the choice of the new location at 2 Ave. de Lafayette was hailed as a major statement about the vitality of the Boston real estate market. Sonos was seeking a collaborative work environment supporting formal and informal meetings for teams from product development to human resources, marketing, finance and more. Officeworks was chosen to be part of the team that helped Sonos make their new home a reality. A 120,000 square foot space on two floors of the six story building, the location is home to 400 employees and boasts a 30-by-30 foot acoustic chamber, crucial for Sonos audio development business. The space itself was fully renovated from a standard cube layout into state-of-the-art open seating with a variety of meeting areas, multiple options for video-conferencing and two acoustically tuned listening rooms. Featured elements included Leverage panels, Livello height-adjustable tables and District credenzas as well as custom pieces from Contemporary Cabinets.
